ABOUT US

TUMU Foundation is a development Non Governmental Organization that works towards increasing access to quality health care services and social support by needy and less privileged groups in Buhweju District and the neighboring areas. TUMU Foundation is non-profit making, a member of Tumu Group of companies.

​

The initiative to start-up a Community Based Organization started in 2010 when Mr. Johnson Tumusiime, the Founder and Chairman of Tumu Group of Companies constructed a Hospital with a Modern Art of facilities and equipments at Rugongo, Karungu Buhweju. The facility was later opened on 4th November 2011 by the President of Uganda, His Excellence Yoweri Kagutta Museveni. The founder was touched by the poor conditions and quality of life that people in this new district and neighboring areas were living in and was compelled to make a difference.


Working together with Tumu Hospital and Tumu Medical Training Institute, the Foundation works towards changing the situation of the poorest and less privileged groups by providing them with quality medical care services and social support, and contributing to the National Development Plan of Poverty eradication.

Mission​​​​​​​​​​​


Becoming a leader and partner in improving lives of less privileged groups in Buhweju and neighboring areas, through provision of quality, accessible and affordable health care services and rehabilitation support

Objectives​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

​

​1. Increasing access to quality health care services by the less privileged groups​

 

2. Building the capacity of needy households of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) to provide adequate health care and support to children under their households.​

 

3. Increasing knowledge and influencing attitudes and practices towards HIV/AIDS, disability and other immunisable and chronicle diseases that prevent people from attaining good quality lives.  


4. Building the capacity of Tumu Foundation to fulfil its mission and realize its vision.
